High School Musical On Stage!!

Act 2 Performing Arts CIC Production of.png

Act 2's first musical production will be performed at New Mills Art Theatre on the 19th-21st March 2026.

This project provides valuble perfroming arts experiences to up-and-coming artists (aged18-30) from in and around Derbyshire. It aims to help those that are struggling to find their way into the industry by teaching important musical theatre skills as well as how to market yourself to potential casting directors.

Auditions are taking place at the beginning of January and rehearsals will commence in February.

Act 2 provides drama and dance sessions to people with disabilities in schools and community groups. The workshops use games and a variety of stimuli, allowing the participants to freely discover new ideas within a safe space. All tasks are open to interpretation, so are accessible to all members regardless of their disability. Using the contributions made by the group, we facilitate the creation of a short performance that can be showcased within the final weeks of the project. This will be an opportunity for the participants to present what they have been working on to their family and friends, giving them the freedom to express themselves and develop more confidence within their own abilities.

We are currently working on two parallel projects with students at Aquinas College Pathways and Hope Valley College SEN unit.

In January 2026, we will also begin workshops at Our Vision Our Future with new assistant facilitator Niamh Duffy. Niamh has experience working with older adults in a care setting as well as recently graduating from Edge Hill University where she had the opportunity to lead accessible dance sessions to young people with disabilities.

I am pleased to say that Act 2 has been supported by another successful funding grant from The National Lottery through Arts Council England.

If you are part of a school or community group that would be interested in these sessions, please don't hesitate to contact me
